Julia Tuff – Managing Director
Japanese – English Medical and Pharmaceutical Translator & Interpreter, Bsc, MA, MCIOL, MITIChair of ITI Professional Development Committee 2010-2014, Chair of IJET 2006, Japanese Network Coordinator (2003-6 & 2011-14)
Managing director Julia Tuff, has worked professionally with foreign languages since 1996. She spent years developing her Japanese to native fluency while travelling the length of Japan and sampling the diverse culture, foods and mountain scenery from the comfort of a road bike.
Julia has also spent many years teaching English in both the public and private sectors, including at the highly prestigious Keio Futsubu School in Yokohama. She and a Japanese colleague started a successful kindergarten English school in Tokyo, as well as an overseas homestay holiday programme for secondary school students.
Upon returning to the UK, Julia got her master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Bath. She then worked as a freelance translator for a few years before being headhunted to run the MA programme at Bath. For the next several years, she trained translators and interpreters, many of whom now work in global multinational organisations, providing translation and interpreting services to technology, pharmaceutical and financial organisations.
Julia is passionate about quality. This passion underlies the ethos of our approach to translation and language support at Bath Translations. We are a bespoke provider and we only handle a small number of projects at any one time. Doing this enables us to provide the highest quality language support and give our clients the peace of mind that comes with knowing their organisation is in good hands.
Julia has worked with most of the major Japanese companies that provide language consultancy services, translation of clinical trial documents and localisation of websites.
Since 2010, we have worked with companies such as University of Bath, University of Cambridge, Porton BioPharma, Morgan Stanley, Google, Microsoft, Sony, Honda of the UK Manufacturing, Williamson Tea and most UK-based pharmaceutical companies and CROs.
